Optimised underlay for an SD-WAN solution

This GNX client is a global pioneer in intelligent plumbing and climate solutions for residential and commercial estates. But as they moved away from MPLS to redundant global internet, they realized they needed help streamlining their network.

Our client was having difficulty sourcing the local internet access they needed globally. Plus, there was the daunting task of consolidating all their customer-sourced and telco-sourced legacy internet services. What they needed was an optimized underlay and a better way to manage it.

GNX designed, delivered, and deployed fully infra-redundant internet connectivity for each site, delivering local ISP services with the best regional peering capabilities. We also consolidated all of these underlay services into one contract and one invoice, completely streamlining the management of their network underlay.

Our solution was fast, flexible, and totally tailored to our client’s needs. We not only presented them with the best selection of local connectivity options, but we also provided fast quotes and service delivery that allowed them to optimize their WAN quickly and efficiently.

Ultra-Low-Latency P2P services

This GNX customer is a crypto trading firm. They’re great at what they do, but needed the edge of speed and agility that comes from optimized low-latency global routes.

Our client’s business can be made in a millisecond. Yet, they had dispersed and inefficient global P2P connectivity services from multiple providers which were slowing them down. This not only caused high latency across multiple routes, but delayed access to their essential data and delayed transactions.

We got our client up to speed with an AWS-AWS racetrack between Silicon Valley, Ashburn, Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Tokyo. Integrating GNX low-latency ethernet and ISP services in each of the IBX facilities, we also combined Equinix IBX services with local GNX metro connects and Equinix Fabric capabilities to achieve ultra-low-latency connectivity.

The team at GNX understood exactly what we needed from the start. Their expertise in FX and low-latency connectivity put us at ease, and their solution jumpstarted our network and our business.

This optimized solution leverages the core capabilities of GNX and our partner Equinix. Using a unique and bespoke combination of IP services, IBX, Cloud Exchange, and (U)LL services, we were able to provide the ultra-low-latency connectivity needed by the fin-tech industry.

Cloud connectivity to MS Azure in China

This GNX customer is a leading innovator in 3D motion tracking technology and products, with an international presence in North America, Europe, and Asia. Their sensor fusion technologies enable a seamless interaction between the physical and digital worlds in consumer electronics devices and professional applications.

As an international company with teams collaborating beyond borders and time zones, connectivity between offices and factories should be a given. Nevertheless, internet regulations in China limiting Microsoft Azure capabilities in that country got in the way of a seamless CRM rollout for their office in China.

That, plus a slow-to-zero response by the local incumbent providers, was enough to make them turn to GNX’s combined solution with Equinix.

When we roll up our sleeves at GNX, we first look into our customers’ specific needs, requirements, and existing environment.

With that in mind, we leveraged our partnership with Equinix to first build a point-to-point solution between the customer’s office in Shanghai and an uplink into MS Azure in Hong Kong. This solution allowed us to offer a compliant solution that enabled a seamless CRM rollout while removing the complexity of China’s internet landscape.

But times change. Requirements change. And due to changes in the political landscape and to guarantee the performance and reliability of the connection, we saw it necessary to migrate to a new solution.

The existing model connecting Shanghai to Hong Kong was migrated to a different path: MS Azure Shanghai (China East 2) and MS Azure Amsterdam (Europe West). The new link was fully backbone protected and redundant for always-on availability.

And while the hand-off for the link is in Equinix Frankfurt, where Microsoft takes care of the final part of the traffic flow to Amsterdam, for the customer, the experience remains seamless. Movella receives only two Azure service keys. In the background,  GNX works its “magic” behind the scenes, making it work end-to-end.

Sourcing connectivity in China has been tough. We quickly learned that doing business in China can be tricky, but with the help of GNX, we were able to continue operations efficiently.
